I had a series of three connected dreams: In the first, I was present only as an observer, like I was documenting it. An adult person took a pre-teen boy out on a frozen lake. The lake became the arctic, and sometimes it was ice, sometimes it was ocean. At first they were on ice skates, then on snowmobiles, or when it was water, jetskis. The scenery was vast and beautiful, but also felt huge and intimidating and dangerous. I saw the boy struggling to stay above the water, then he was encased in water, which began to freeze around him. In the second part, I was with a group of male friends and we were going into these enormous, beautiful, but again intimidating mountains. There was danger from snow and cold, and there were also enormous, aggressive bears. But some people were trapping the bears, only they were going out of their way to kill ALL the bears, not just the ones that were threatening people. In the third part, I was with a bunch of people from out of town, and I was taking them to a divey restaurant for good Mexican food. We passed a big box-shaped apartment building that was strung all over with Christmas lights, but the lights were malfunctioning, and electricty was zapping all over the building. Finally the lights began to smoke and burn, and I was trying to find a phone to call 911 when we saw a police woman outside of the restaurant, and reported the fire to her. In the first two dreams I was very struck by the beauty of the surroundings, but also by how dangerous they were. In the third one, the city surroundings were ugly and dirty and broken down, except for the apartment building, which was new but cheaply made.
Each dream in this series presents different symbols and themes that can provide possible interpretations for the dreamer.
In the first dream, the presence of the adult taking the pre-teen boy onto a frozen lake that transforms into the arctic and water suggests a journey or transition that may involve both challenge and fluidity. The changing landscapes and modes of transportation could represent adaptability and flexibility in facing obstacles. The struggles faced by the boy and the freezing water may symbolize feelings of being overwhelmed or trapped in a difficult or emotional situation.
In the second dream, the group of male friends navigating through mountains filled with danger and aggressive bears can symbolize facing conflict or challenges in waking life. The presence of people trapping and killing all the bears, not just the ones posing a threat, may suggest the need to confront and eliminate perceived threats or obstacles, even if it involves unnecessary aggression or destruction.
In the third dream, the contrast between the broken-down city surroundings and the new but cheaply made apartment building strung with malfunctioning Christmas lights may reflect feelings of imbalance or discord in the dreamer's environment. The burning apartment building emitting electricity could represent a situation or relationship that is spiraling out of control and in need of attention or intervention.
Overall, these dreams seem to suggest a theme of navigating through perilous situations and environments, and the need to address challenges with a balanced approach. The dreamer may be processing feelings of danger, beauty, control, and imbalance in their waking life circumstances. This dream series could be encouraging the dreamer to find a sense of resilience and resourcefulness in facing difficulties, while also recognizing the importance of addressing conflicts and seeking support when needed.
